Better than the original, the conflicts in THE BEST MAN HOLIDAY are exactly that: conflicts. I never really saw these films as light-hearted comedies; they're dramas, which means the plot points matter a hell of a lot more. In the original, THE BEST MAN, the story was essentially twenty-something romantic problems; in this one, there is a more life-or-death sink-or-swim feeling. Reuniting those with unresolved issues is bound to bring the tensions boiling back up to the surface. That is in essence this film and I think that's what made it good. I have to wonder where they will go with the third film that's been in talks since this one was released; I suspect it will have more to do with Quentin than Harper and Lance, but who knows? Anyway, compared to the first, I much preferred this sequel, a story with some substance. To the right viewer, I'd recommend THE BEST MAN HOLIDAY.
