I think I expected to have a heart-breaking, bawling-my-eyes-out, and "OMG WHY WHY WHY!!!" kind of reaction that I've had with Hart's other books. Because I didn't, I guess I didn't enjoy the book as much? My favorite aspect of the book was explanation of her Funeral business. But the rest of it was alright. I think I just didn't like Sam as much as the other guys in her other books. Or maybe it was the fact that nobody was dead and come back to life, raped by a family member, or taking care of a quadriplegic. Those are all quite extreme situations and make for wonderful, messy, full of guilt and angst story lines! I think we could've heard a little more about Sam's past with his dad and his life in general. Also, his drinking problem could've been taken to a higher level. I think that was too neatly tied up with him getting help for it. I would've like to know why had he gotten help, was it before, during, or after meeting with Grace? I liked what Grace said about him that we don't really know whether he is joking or not so I'm not sure what to make of him.
