Where the Stars Still Shine is a gorgeous must-read about past trauma and second chances. Callie has been running her whole life with her crazy mom who also happens to be her kidnapper. After living a rough 17 years, her mom ended up being arrested and Callie finally met with her father once again. But now he has his own family, and Callie isn’t his only kid now. As she struggles with finding where she belongs, Callie also meets Alex, a well-known womanizer. But as the two get closer and closer, love is finally starting to not seem impossible for Callie. Faced with grief from her childhood abuse, can Callie learn to let others love her and more importantly, learn to love herself? I absolutely loved how this book depicted how complicated family truly is. The romance is also very deep and meaningful and complimented the plot perfectly. The ending was a little too short in my opinion, but I really loved this book and would definitely recommend it. Rating: 4.5/5 - @Iron_Rose of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library
