Beautiful art and a touching, character-driven story. I could read it again and again! If you love historical fiction, light romance and exotic cultures, check it out.

One of the most gorgeous manga I have read in a long time. Beautiful artwork, well-researched history, and great writing. The author's love of history and rich, vivid details really shine. The story itself is also unusual: on the steppes of Central Asia in the 1800s, a 20-year-old girl gets used to her arranged marriage to a 12-year-old boy of another tribe. More than anything a gentle exploration of daily life for these people, A Bride's Story is a gentle, wonderful read.

Set in the 19th-century, this book sends you back in time to follow the life of a young couple in Central Asia. 20-year-old Amir is sent from her semi-nomadic tribe to marry 12-year-old Karluk Eihon. Despite age and cultural differences, optimistic Amir settles into her new life and her new family. Just when she develops some real friendships, however, her older brother comes to take her back and marry her to someone else -- in a tribe known for their cruelty to women. Will he succeed in breaking up the new couple?
