First Grave on the Right is the smashing, award-winning debut novel that introduces Charley Davidson: part-time private investigator and full-time Grim Reaper. Charley sees dead people. That's right, she sees dead people. And it's her job to convince them to "go into the light." But when these very dead people have died under less than ideal circumstances (i.e., murder), sometimes they want Charley to bring the bad guys to justice. Complicating matters are the intensely hot dreams she's been having about an Entity who has been following her all her life...and it turns out he might not be dead after all. In fact, he might be something else entirely. This is a thrilling debut novel from Darynda Jones, an exciting newcomer to the world of paranormal romantic suspense. First Grave on the Right is the winner of the 2012 Rita Award for Best First Book.

A bit formulaic and slow to begin but picked up towards the end. Jones has some interesting concepts though her characters are a bit cliche. Will read the next in the series to find out what happens. After that, not sure.

This book is definitely not your normal romance. It is absolutely hilarious--had me cracking up nearly every two pages! It's sexy, witty, and utterly crazy . . . definitely a refresher from your typical paranormal romance. Couldn't put it or the sequels down. 10/10 recommend.

One of the BEST books I've read in years! Grim reaper Charley Davidson is my new she-ro! She's LAUGH OUT LOUD hilarious. As a PI she helps the depated tie up loose ends while working with her homicide detective uncle Ubie, her bestfriend Cookie and a host of ghosts. I literally didn't want to put this book down. Before the end I made sure to purchase the next two in the series to binge read.

This is the story of Charley Davidson, who is a PI and a grim reaper. Sometimes if a person has unfinished business they wont go into the light, especially if they have been murdered and they want justice.

As she is trying to help her latest guests she has to contend with intense erotic dreams., about this entity that she has seen all her life. But are they dreams if they happen while you are awake? What is this thing and why does he have such a strong effect on Charley?

Charely has to run her business, run her life and try to stay alive to help bring closure to the dead.

I liked this book because it features a strong female lead who also has her own business. There is alot of diversity in this book to, they all dead, but hey they are there. I am going to enjoy binge reading this series and learning more about reyes and who he is.

Charley Davidson is a private investigator and grim reaper. She helps the dead go into the light, but she also has a unknown entity in her life. She wants to know what he is as he is hot and giving her unbelievable dreams. Easy fun read.

I've not been able to read these in order, but I can say this is the least of my favourites. It was still a good and fast read ( read it in only a few hours) It just wasn't as exciting as the others I've read so far. Still a good read tho.

" There's a certain responsibility that comes with having a name like Charley Davidson. It brooks no opposition. It takes sh*t from no one. And it lends a sense of familiarity when I meet clients. They feel like they know me already. Sort of like if my name were Martha Washington or Ted Bundy." - excerpt from First Grave on the Right
