Why did a couple drag their young son and a dog across Canada? Because they needed to generate an income and this Maple Syrupy theme had a good chance of getting funding from the National Film Board. Is a child pocked with blackfly, sand fly and deer fly bites evidence of abuse? At least three litres of motor oil were burned into planet-warming greenhouse gases in the production of this travelogue. Give this film a pass but watch any canoeing film by the late Bill Mason (of the NFB).
