A FASHION DYNASTY AT WAR

William Melville's daughters are heiresses to the world's most exclusive fashion dynasty. Beautiful and rich, they are envied by all. But behind the glittering façade of their lives, each girl hides a dark secret that threatens to tear their family apart.

Smart, ambitious Elizabeth knows how to manipulate every man she meets, except the one who counts: her father.

Gentle, naïve Caitlin, the illegitimate child, struggles to fit into a world of privilege while staying true to herself.

Stunning, spoiled Amber, the party girl with a weakness for bad boys; more fragile than anyone realizes.

As each of them seeks to carve out her own destiny, Elizabeth, Caitlin, and Amber face difficult choices, which will take them in wildly different directions. But as old wounds resurface and threaten to destroy the foundations of the Melville empire, their paths will cross again. Because the simple truth is that, no matter how far you go, you cannot escape the claims of family.

The main three characters problems can all be summed up with two words: daddy-issues. I hated these girls so much I couldn't finish the novel because I didn't want to see them get a happy ending. And the amount of characters the author kept introducing was too much, they just kept coming and then they would just disappear. A major player will suddenly never be mentioned again. And the author gave every character their own inner thoughts for a sentence or two, even minor characters who we never see or think about again we get a moment to look in their brain for whatever reason. In the end I did not enjoy this book mostly due to the unlikable main characters and the constant barrage of new ones.

Loved how the author developed the characters. I'm still thinking of them even though I've finished the book and wondering how are their lives now. Just checked out another book by the same author. Hope it's just as good.

Great read. She has a way of really developing fantastic characters and making them so real. Loaned this book on past reviews and loved it. Also read Fallen Angels after this, not as good, but still a great read.

An unexpectedly good find worth reading because of the authers style and developing (hardly ever boring) plotline.

Very good book; well written. I enjoyed the characters and the spell the author wove around their lives.

Adultery. Money. Promiscuity. Relationships. Family. Betrayal. Drugs. Responsibility. Creativity. Lies. Growing up, with all its ups and downs, hurts and successes. It’s all there. A fairly standard moneyed family saga—with he requisite illegitimate child at the centre— but with some really good twists that cover some really difficult social issues. It’s a good read. It’s well written. I’ve recommended to friends and family.
