The story of Dr. Jerri Nielsen, a physician who discovered a lump in her breast during her time at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station on Antarctica. Forced to administer a self-biopsy, she communicated via e-mail with doctors in the United States and learned that the cancer was aggressive and rapid-growing. Running out of time, the Air National Guard eventually made a daring rescue, dropped off a replacement physician and returned Nielsen to the United States where she was able to seek full medical attention to treat her cancer.
