Ross McKenzie of Alberta Agriculture's Crop Diversification Centre South near Brooks says this summer's weather has been a challenge but his malt barley study plots are nearly ready to harvest. McKenzie's project is monitoring nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium and sulphur fertilizers and six varieties. The goal is to optimize barley yields.
