I had low expectations for this movie, but I ended up enjoying this movie. I still love the original movie more, but I think Will Smith did a great job, he deserves more credit then some people give him. You have to admit that's a hard role considering we always see Robin Williams as genie. I think Robin Williams would be proud.

This movie was spectacular. That is to say, it was full of spectacles.
There were lots of bright colors and eye catching movie magic.
This is not the animated movie and it's not trying to be. There are some blaring differences.
That said, it is good. It's fun to watch.
My favorite character, which is new to the story, was Dalia as played by Nasim Pedrad. I liked her character and felt that if I met somebody like that they would be a good friend.
Will Smith's portrayal of Genie was, unsurprisingly, Will Smith's usual hype-man character dropped into the situation. That's okay, because it's a good character.
Jafar had much more psychological buildup this time around. The sultan was less childish. The relationship between Aladdin and Jasmine explored much more of the emotions and thoughts of what the characters were going through than the animated movie. It went to a dark place a couple times. The whole thing had this feeling of desperately trying to tie up loose ends and justify actions, even if they couldn't be explained. It was a valiant effort.
So yeah, good movie. Don't be afraid to pop this one in and see what it's about. Just remember that this is more spectacle than complicated drama. Let yourself be swept up by the colors, choreography, and the general plot, and you should come away from it feeling alright.

Very enjoyable for both adults and kids. Will Smith was well cast as the blue genie in the magic lamp. Loved the special effects, costumes, and singing. A message for girls watching the film not to remain silent and not to settle for less than the best they can be.

It was nice to this the story again, but it just was simply not as good as the animated film, as memory serves. The monkey though! I mean, see it just for the monkey. I do not know what sort of movie magic was used, but the end result was perfection!

Will Smith tried hard, but he did not make it his own in a way that made it "more" or better. I longed for the Robin Williams version for the entire play of the movie. Somethings should not be re-done, there is no need for another version of such a perfect performance. Just a dollar grab by Hollywood as far as I am concerned.

The choice of actors / actresses matched the characters in the comic book. Disney quality as usual. Great movie. The only downside is the story is old, watched the cartoon and read the comic too many times,

Love. Love. Love. Love. The remake live action movie of the original Disney animation is pretty on point (although they added a maid character into it). I watched the movie the first time with my husband a few days ago. He wasn't into it at first. I could clearly tell, yet the movie just gets better and better as you keep on watching it. We ended up really enjoying Aladdin with the blue genie Will Smith! I didn't realize how much I liked the Aladdin when I was a kid. Definitely felt nostalgic. I'm checking it out again to rewatch it with me mom. Super excited.

I prefer the animated version, but this was better than I expected. The costumes were fantastic!

Almost unwatchable. I'm a big Disney fan- pretty much any Disney, star wars, Pixar and Marvel movie is a win for me....except for these live-action adaptations. I enjoyed Beauty and the Beast a little bit, but every single other one has been just awful, though I haven't seen the new lion king yet. I had low expectations going in and this movie didn't even come close to meeting those. It just feels like watching a money-grab at this point.

Aladdin: Do we need the top knot?
Genie: That’s my little cherry on top.
Aladdin: Okay, okay.

50 quotes in IMDb already, thanks to contributors. The Genie's song caught me by surprise and did not get the lyrics the first time:

Uh-oh! Watch out!
You done wound me up.
'Bout to show you
what I'm working with. Uh!
Well, Ali Baba
He had them 40 thieves
Scheherazade
Had a thousand tales
But, master, you're in luck
Because up your sleeves
You got a brand of magic
Never fails
You got some power
In your corner now
Heavy ammunition
In your camp
You got some punch, pizzazz
Yahoo, and how
All you gotta do
Is rub that lamp
And then I'll say
Mister, man
What's your name?
Whatever
What will Your pleasure be?
Let me take your order
I'll jot it down
You ain't never had
A friend like me
Life is your restaurant
And I'm your maitre d'
Come whisper to me
Whatever it is you want
You ain't never had
A friend like me
We pride ourselves
On service
You the boss
The king, the shah
Say what you wish
It's yours, true dish
How about
A little more baklava?
...
You ain't never had
A friend like me...
