Farley Mowat himself has provided peeks into his life throughout his books, but no biographical material compares in depth, clarity, or eloquence to this complete account of Mowat's story by James King. Readers can expect a well-researched, masterfully compiled, and tastefully presented answer to the question of who this writer and Canadian icon really was—and why. While King treats Mowat, his family, and his acquaintances with the respect they deserve, he does not shy away from revealing the many demons, faults and little-known truths that Mowat has consistently omitted from his material.
