I kept reading this book long past bedtime. Genuinely laughed out loud numerous times.

Probably my least favourite of hers so far. The storyline was a bit bizarre, though it did keep me turning the pages.

Let me get this straight. 9 individuals check into a retreat / health spa and are given dangerous hallucinogenics without their knowledge or consent. They are then subjected to psychological torture. The abuser is given a short jail term and everyone else lives happily ever after?????? This story is repulsive to me. It justifies torture in the name of science or some "higher good". I guess we could extrapolate that the medical experiments done by the Nazi doctors, especially Josef Mengele were done in the interest of "science" and a greater good. I am sure that some of the people who managed to survive this experience had a "life changing" result and perhaps appreciated life more than they ever had before. Case closed. Torture in the name of science is justified. NOT!! As a clinical psychologist I find the idea that everyone subjected to psychological torture and dangerous drugs goes on the live a happy life is so preposterous that I cannot fathom why an author would even write such a dangerous novel. Many individuals live a painful life subsequent to psychological torture. If someone could have prevented or alleviated that torture it would be criminal not to do so. Yet our perpetrator is free to continue performing her experiments under no supervision. Some research is being done with LSD, psilocybin, MDMA (street name "ecstasy") for treatment of psychiatric disorders . This is being done under medical supervision, with client consent, and is not paired with psychological torture. Not only do I not recommend this book, as stated before, I find its premise obscene. Tedious read, I skipped along just to get it over with - a quick return. Lots of 'life' I find little interest in hearing about, enough of this crappe abounds on TV.

I didn't think I would like this book, because I'm not drawn to popular "thrillers," but I did like it. I borrowed it from the "Lucky Day" section at the the library, and came back to it three times before completing it... so, I stuck with it. I liked how the author brought the story to a resolution and tied up the loose ends from the characters' lives... and there were a lot of characters in this story. The book had elements of horror, and quite a bit of humor, too. I can see why Liane Moriarty is such a popular writer.

Great start, well most of the book, then seemed to get lost, plot fizzled. But I liked her writing and will give other books a try. An easy read.

Not her best. Just had to plow through to the end to see hownshe wrapped it up

Not my favorite of hers, but still a decent read. It definitely kept me in suspense, but I was still waiting for more to happen. Think I wanted a greater backstory for all the characters, except Frances, where there was too much of the story centered around her.

I liked this book...good characters, really different plot with several twists. I thought it was a satirical view of what "therapy" is and who are the "professionals " who give the therapy. An entertaining read.

I was with her throughout most of the book but I hated the weird turn it took near the end, and the ending is atrocious. It's a breezy read, though.
