"From the Chicago neighborhoods where she grew up and set her groundbreaking The House on Mango Street to her abode in Mexico, in a region where "my ancestors lived for centuries," the places Sandra Cisneros has lived have provided inspiration for her now-classic works of fiction and poetry. But a house of her own, where she could truly take root, has eluded her. With this collection--spanning nearly three decades, and including never-before-published work--Cisneros has come home at last."--

Thoroughly enjoyed these essays about home, self, solitude, family, writing, living, being.

Big fan of Sandra C; very proud of her being a homegirl from Chicago. I like some of her writing techniques though she should use layman's terms at times if she wants her reader to be connected with her thru her story telling.

I purposely avoided Cisneros's "The House on Mango Street", because it was on my daughter's middle-school reading list. I still have no plans to read it...but thoroughly enjoyed this memoir.

Culturally educational, from the perspective of a female in a Mexican-American family. Cisneros comes across as ambitious, independent and intelligent. She wandered the globe to fulfill her dreams of writing, making her homes in many interesting places.

I enjoy books about books, and this writing provided several threads which I intend to follow, authors whom I have yet to read.

I really love this book, it speaks to me about the houses I have loved too.

I have always enjoyed her writing. It was great getting more acquainted with Cisneros.
