After reading Red Sparrow I needed more and was elated to find out Jason Matthews wrote two more books on Dominika Egorova. In the first book I didn't get the recipes, and Matthews continues the same pattern in this book, but this time I became a believer. The goal is full and total immersion and I did a belly flop right on the deep end. The action and pace is almost dizzying. Matthews doesn't let up for even a minute. I don't think I took a breath for the entire third act of the book. I can not wait to dive into the Kremlin's Candidate. I'd love to shake the hand of the man who not only has me creating Russian dishes (to the surprising delight of my household) but has taught me enough Russian to consider a trip abroad. I finished the book in four days of non-stop, barely time to use a bookmark reading and I love every second of it. Secretly, I am still holding out hope for a Jason Matthews screenplay with all three books coming to our screens via Netflix or Amazon
**It goes without saying that one should never watch the movie Red Sparrow. As Hollywood is prone to do they completely butchered the story and cheated the beautiful Jennifer Lawrence out of what would have been a blockbuster trilogy.

I agree with the reviewer on the matter of too much filler from previous book. It is interesting and suspenseful, however the ending is not as good as the ending in Red Sparrow. Still it is worth the read.

A great sequel that is even better and more courageously plotted than 'Red Sparrow.' This keeps you intrigued avidly turning the pages and there is one chapter featuring nerds that is LOL funny. The authenticity moves this novel up two levels from a standard Jack Higgins but just under Tom Clancy and Daniel Silva. Must admit I've tried some of the dishes but there are some Matthews' recipes I'd avoid like the plague.

Picks up a few months after the events of Red Sparrow, Palace of Treason is a worthy sequel, with all the pacing and wonderful intrigue I loved in the first novel, plus the recipes at the end of each chapter! I eagerly await the third installment of this series.

Now I can see Putin, though the book went wild to make me believe. Color auras, not all in consistency with my vision, is a clever tool, as much in writing as in heroine's trick.
Highly formulated writing, could be done by computer with human input, seamless. With guilty pleasure, I may want to proceed the yet published sequel, before I forget all the jargon, acronyms about surveillance (black in all six; I'm cotton wooled...), recruitment (asset, handler...).

In this "extraordinarily commanding, acidly relevant, and unrelentingly suspenseful" (Booklist) follow-up to the Edgar Award-winning Red Sparrow, Russian intelligence double agent Dominika Egorova edges ever closer to danger. She's got President Putin in her cross-hairs, but a rival operative has her in his. Add to that a treasonous American who knows enough to expose her, and a tricky Russian uranium deal with Iran, and Dominika and her CIA lover/case officer are in trouble. Complexly plotted and extremely detailed in characterization and tradecraft alike, Palace of Treason is a must-read for spy fiction fans.

I read Red Sparrow on a lark, always searching for a new author . Matthews is an exciting new writer and both of his first books are impressive!Palace of Treason is remarkable in its detail, especially about Putin. Espionage thriller, check it out!

I was in the mood for a fast, exciting spy novel, and I got one! Palace of Treason is set in modern-day Moscow, Athens, DC & Paris, with really bad bad people and great heroines & heroes. Can't imagine that this won't become a movie. 2nd in a series that starts with Red Sparrow; you don't have to read the 1st one to enjoy this one. Looking forward to the next one.

This book was disappointing. It needed lots of editing. Too much filler descriptions. Too much sex for a book of this genre. It's hard to believe that these beautiful young women are throwing themselves at these CIA agents. Even Marty Gable winds up sleeping with a 25-year-old woman who is young enough to be his daughter. I don't plan to read the next book in this series.
