After a terrible car accident destroys her life as she knew it, twenty-year-old Kacey escapes to Florida, where she encounters an irresistible man determined to capture her wounded heart.

Just breathe, Kacey. Ten tiny breaths. Seize them. Feel them. Love them.

Four years ago, Kacey Cleary's life imploded when her car was hit by a drunk driver, killing her parents, boyfriend, and best friend. Still haunted by memories of being trapped inside, listening to her mother take her last breath, Kacey wants to leave her past behind. Armed with two bus tickets, Kacey and her fifteen-year-old sister, Livie, escape Grand Rapids, Michigan, to start over in Miami. They're struggling to make ends meet at first, but Kacey's not worried. She can handle anything--anything but her mysterious neighbor in apartment 1D.

Trent Emerson has smoldering blue eyes and deep dimples, and perfectly skates that irresistible line between nice guy and bad boy. Hardened by her tragic past, Kacey is determined to keep everyone at a distance, but their mutual attraction is undeniable, and Trent is desperate to find a way into Kacey's guarded heart--even if it means revealing an explosive secret that could shatter both their worlds.

I'm so happy that I've read recent releases by Tucker prior to reading Ten Tiny Breaths. I would have had a hard time picking up anything else by her after reading this one. The brusque narrative by a hurting heroine was not enjoyable to follow. Even harder, because there really wasn't a softening of her character until the last 10% of the book. Also, the constant ogling and objectifying monologues had me cringing. I can see why some readers really enjoyed this story, since it was published during the height of the New Adult genre with big "reveals." This story fits within that niche, but overall it's not that strong of a story or was it very well-developed. I had a hard time believing the strength of a relationship and vows of everlasting love after only knowing each other for a short time and little dialogue. Tucker's recent works are some of my favorites and have demonstrated her growth as a writer. This particular story just wasn't for me.

A good stand alone novel to read if you want something a little different rather than a standard romance novel.

Quick and enjoyable read. The characters are flawed but likeable. Not a deep plot but kept my interest.

a little too pat - both implausible and predictable - but not a bad read... enjoyed it for the most part...

This is a gripping novel and, just like in real life, bits and pieces of the back story come out a little at a time, leaving the reader marveling at how the young women have coped (or not). There are many surprises in this novel, and they all contribute to a very satisfying read.
