Movie is decent but really fun to see Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz so young and gorgeous.Get to see Arnaz what he was famous for before he came to US. Not to mention Ann Miller and other stars just getting thier start.
Also great period piece - lots of dialogue and background stuff not heard / seen today. Check out those football uniforms!...

Here a 29 year-old Lucille Ball plays opposite her soon to be husband, Desi Arnaz (23 yrs old): they eloped in 1940 the year this movie was made. A fascinating look at Lucy playing a character opposite to her familar screwball "I Love Lucy" self. Here she is a controlled, sophisticated lady in love with a playwright. Desi is cast as a Mexican football star (!) Both stars sing and dance as well. This show is more in the style of a 1930's musical with elaborate sound stage sets and dance numbers with dozens if not hundreds of extras. Interesting to see what was popular in the late 1930's/early 1940's. Tell sceptical guy friends that it's really a football movie.
