When Carrie Fisher tells you about her life, it is always a blend of witty reflection and deep pathos. This little slice of life is no different as she recalls her relapse into drug addiction after the death of a dear friend and her decision to try electro shock therapy. Full of tangents that she justifies by explaining that shock therapy messes with your memory, we still manage to get a portrait of a woman who is very aware of how strange and dysfunctional her life and environment has been, and who loves deeply nonetheless.

It's hard for me not to adore Carrie Fisher. Not because she played Princess Leia and I'm a Star Wars fan but because she as a person was so brave and strong, even when (especially when) admitting to being weak. Listening to this made me laugh out loud and tear up in sadness. I don't care that much about Hollywood gossip--all right, I care a little--but her openness about her mental health and neuroses inspires me.
