"On the first day of Christmas, a gift was sent to me: a parrot in a palm tree! Ahoy mateys--Christmas is coming and even pirates celebrate the holiday! This follow-up to the hugely popular A Pirate's Night Before Christmas offers a witty re-imagining of "The Twelve Days of Christmas"--with a sly buccaneer twist. A brave cabin boy receives marvelously mysterious gifts for each of the 12 days he is left alone to guard the pirate ship: 12 cannons blastin', 9 mermaids singin', 6 Jolly Rogers, and so on--but who are they from? With impeccable rhythm and a lively sense of fun, Philip Yates and Sebastia Serra create a delightful world all their own"--

I first read a Pirate's Night Before Christmas which I absolutely loved. So when I saw this second book, I had to get it. It is just as cute as the other book. It takes the song the Twelve Days of Christmas and turns it pirate style. Again, I love the beautiful and colorful illustrations. By the end of the book, there is so much on each page you can play "count the..." and look for each of the items the boy received. Again, I also loved the kind and nonviolent pirates. In each picture you can find the hidden pirate who left the gift. There is a lot of vocabulary to learn from this book, but the author puts a pirate words glossary in the back.
If there is a pirate lover in your home, I say it would be worth it to own both of these beautiful Christmas books.
