This is a really wonderful book to read with a K-2nd grade audience. They have to keep track of the three things the rabbit is trying to steal from the animals. Start by telling them that the story is an oral tale that comes from Africa. And it is their way of explaining why rabbits are fast hoppers (to get away from the angry animals the rabbit stole from).

My 3 year old loves this really fun trickster tale and listened intently to the story while she looked at every inch of the pictures. She could not stop laughing at the drawing of big fish losing his scales. Highly recommend.
