Flat, dry commentary accompanied by sumptuous art and architecture.

Only 116 minutes... If it were 116 hours, it would still not be enough, for a museum that has nearly 3 million items in its inventory. I'd like to know if this is on blu-ray. Conventional DVD is OLD. Now, musically, there's only one complaint; but, it is a serious one. When the orchestra is shown up close, the recorded sound is dry as fossil bone. However, it has ambience when we view the art. Strange... Make no mistake: classical music needs ambience (i.e. reverberation, echo-factor, atmosphere) - every single work! The narration style doesn't bother me at all since I am schooled in art history, history, archaeology and musicology.

the buildings and collections are amazing but the narration has no spark whatsoever.

Interesting but very, VERY dry

Exceptional video tour of the buildings and art collection that make up the Hermitage in St. Petersburg; a proverbial visual feast that whets the appetite for a visit to the city.
