Wow… this book was awesome. Adichie has a wonderful, elegant and concise way of writing that is able to depict complex emotions without sounding pretentious.

I'm in love with the way the author expressed so much of Kambili's internal thoughts in sutil details and the interesting mix of personalities around the story. This is the second book that I read from her and I want to keep reading.

Debut novel by the Nigerian writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, who achieved greater fame with "Half of a Yellow Sun" and "Americanah." This is a smaller, more personal book about a Nigerian Catholic family run by a tyrannical father.

I've read three of Adichie's books in the past couple of months and all have been amazing! This one is the story of a 15 year old growing up in a rich, privileged home with an abusive father. She and her brother live a life full of secrets…

What a delightful discovery! Adichie's style of storytelling is so simply, yet deeply descriptive. I fully stood beside the characters in the Nigerian town of Enugu. We are exposed to the contrast of a wealthy, conservative, religiously…

This year I have slowly been working my way through all of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's works. While I find her writing to be impeccable, Purple Hibiscus wowed me from the first page. Taking place in Nigeria, Kambili and her brother Jaja…

Adichie has written a harshly beautiful first novel of life in Nigeria during troubled political times. Kambili, a 15-year-old girl, impressionable and desperately quiet, lives with her brother, Jaja, who is her hero, and her complicated…

Using a quiet voice usually makes people listen, but the main character's voice is so quiet I lost interest in the story. Will definitely read her next book, Half of a Yellow Sun.
