TUDORS: book 3 (book 2 = The Constant Princess)

I absolutely love Phillipa Gregory's books, however I found this one very hard to read, as Margaret Tudor was arrogant, stubborn, entitled and overall a spoiled child. Wouldn't recommend it.

A very good historical novel about Queen Margaret of Scotland, King Henry VIII's sister, that I knew very little about. I always enjoy Philippa Gregory's writing.

4 star read. This story is mostly about Margaret Tudor, married to King James of Scotland, but also deals with her relationships with her sister-in-law Katherine of Aragon and her sister Mary Tudor. Margaret grows up as the eldest Tudor…

Always fascinating and educational. Philippa Gregory never disappoints.

I concur with this comment from a 2016 review: "Although the urge to race through the novel to see what happens next is strong... read slowly and savor the chance to travel back in time and live in an era ...." The depiction of the era…

I love all of Philippa Gregory’s novels, but this one in particular was an interesting perspective on the relationship of sisters who are also queens.

After taking a break from Phillipa Gregory, "Three Sisters, Three Queens" reminded me of why I love her historical fiction! "Three Sisters" chronicles the early Tudor years through the eyes of Henry VIII's older sister, the indomitable…

There have been many books about Katherine of Aragon, maybe too many, so why not write one about a woman in her circle -- Henry VIII's elder sister, no less, tumultuous queen and grandmother of Mary, Queen of Scots? You get two stories for…

When I started this book, I thought it was a book told by three separate POVs - Katherine, Margaret and Mary. But it was only told from the extremely annoying POV of Margaret. To me, she was an extremely unlikable character - selfish,…

WAY too long and SO much redundancy. This royal, Queen Margaret, was so spoiled and childish and became a very boring early on. Perhaps this was/is a realistic portrayal of someone who believes they are chosen by God. The history that…

I usually enjoy Philippa Gregory's books immensely but I could not finish this one as I found it tedious

I have loved almost everything that Phillippa Gregory has written, but this one might be the worst of the bunch. Not saying that I didn't devour this book and enjoyed it immensely, just not quiet as much as the others.

3.5 stars. I really love Philippa Gregory. I can always count on her for well-researched, page-turning historical fiction. I enjoyed this one despite the fact that there were many times that I grew tired of the constantly whining and…

Reading 3 Queens, I found this book had a very limited character focus for Queen Margaret. Most of her thoughts are - do my sister and sister in law have more stuff than me? Bad. Less stuff? Good. Do I have nice clothes? (really, this…

I have read all of Gregory's books relating to the Tudors, Plantagenets, etc. I LOVE her! However, this is the very first time I've ever had trouble finishing one of her books. I don't know if it's the character who is so…

I generally do enjoy Ms Gregory's books; this one, not so much. The main character -Margaret Tudor- is quite frankly the most self-entitled, whining, unbearable bore. Finishing this book proved to be a chore.
